Show GATHERING DATA ON TIMBER Assistant District Forester Tt. "W. Taylor has returned from tho Sevier national forest, after having spent a number W months reconnoltcring the forest in the Interests of tho silviculture silvicul-ture department, and ho has been dispatched dis-patched to the Targhes forest In Idaho Ida-ho to take up a like labor for a shoit time. After Mr Taylor has made a thorough thor-ough Investigation in Idaho ho will compile statistics regarding the amount of timber that is marketablo in the two forests and turn the data over to District Forester E, A. Sherman Sher-man who, in turn, will give the information infor-mation to the Head of the forest service ser-vice department In Washington. Tho SeIer forest, which lies In Sevier, Piute and Wayne counties of southern rial), covers a large area, the timber belt being extensive, and there are millions of feet of lumber that may readily" be placed on the market Tho Sevier forest has been measured and completely surveyed in connection with like work done on the famons Kalbab forest of southern Utah nnd northern Arizona. oo |
