Amis and Amlle were legendary soldiers of Charlemagne, and. besides being great friends, were considerably like one another an-other In appearance. They were famous fa-mous as the heroes of a widely known song. Later they entered Into the traditions tra-ditions of the church and were Invoked In-voked Indifferently. Hence the proverb.
