Edward Hlnos, millionaire lumberman, tonight declined de-clined to discuss a published report that he had been expelled from tho Union league club today, as a result of his connection with the Lorlmer case Officials of tho club also refused to affirm or deny the rep6rts of HInos expulsion, Marguls Eaton, attornoy for Mr. HInos, mado the following statement: state-ment: "Mr. Hinos has been dropped from tho Union League club and the matter Is subject to discussion only through tho accredited officers and I do not feel It would be becoming in rao as a member of tho club to speak of the matter further than to say that I am convinced that Mr. Hlnes Is Innocent of tho charges made against him." The charge on which tho board of managers of tho club are said to have voted expulsion for tho lumbonnan, was alleged violation of the provision of the constitution of the club, regarding re-garding the furtherance of highor ideals and good governmonL The members of the club board of managers were in session from 9 o'clock this morning until the middle mid-dle of the afternoon, when It was reported re-ported that a final vote was taken by officers and directors. From the viewpoint of the club, one of tho most serious charges mado against Hines was tho one In which the lumberman was quoted as having solicited money In the club house from Clarence S. Funk of the International Harvester company.
