Tho stockholders of the Lehi Irrigation company held an important meeting last night to con-slder con-slder purchasing water for 1,000 acres of land to bo added to their present supply. Tho Provo River Resorvolr company, com-pany, which owns filings on Utah lake, proposes to pump water eighty-five eighty-five feet high into a canal near the Saratoga springs, conduct it through a canal twelve miles loas down the west sido of the Jordan river, syphon It under un-der the rlvor and back Into the Lehi system near the Donver & Rio Grande depot. The reservoir company proposes to furnlBh tho water, erect tho plant and canals, fight all lawsuits and deliver the water Into tho Lehl Irrigation company's system for $40,000 Much opposition developed becuuse of some uncertainty about the supply and the possibility of lawsuits, but the majority ma-jority favored an Increased Bupply A new committee was elected to get all possible details regarding tho proposed pro-posed source of supph, cost of maintenance, main-tenance, etc., and report at an ad journed meeting In three weoks. The meting also Instructed the committee to Investigate other propositions. It Is not unlikely that one filed on by C. W Earl and S. W. Ross may bo adopted Earl and Ross propose to supply the company from a. system of drainage and flowing wells to be developed in the low, boggy land east of Lehi, collecting the water to one common poiit northeast of the sugar factory and pumping It through a mile pipe line Into the Irrigation company's system forty feet above the source of supply. mo |
