Show SCHOOL DOES NOT WANT MARGARET Superintendent Ephraim Gowens of the Sla'o Industrial school appeared before the board of count y commls-bioners commls-bioners today and stated that he has no Jurisdiction over Mrs Mnrgaret Massey who was committed to that Institution a short time ago by Judge Gunnell for incorrigibility, for the reason rea-son that ehe has a husband. The superintendent stated to the commissioners that, in his opinion, the woman galnod her majority when she became the wife of Mr. Massey. No action cau be taken in the matter at this time, however, because the woman wom-an is now under quarantine at the school for smallpox. Tho commissioners state that they would give the question future consideration. consid-eration. He wrote a letter to the juvenile officer here shortly afterwards, after-wards, advising Judge Gunnell that h" could no i oep his wife at home and that he thought it best for the officers to take her into custody and do with her as they thought best. Immediately Immediate-ly after this Mrs. Massey was given a hearing before tho juvenile court and was committed to the industrial school, She was urfllctcd with smallpox- a few days after she was sent to the school. |
