Salt Lake's macadamized ma-cadamized road from the Warm Springs to the northern limits of the city, which is nov nqaring completion comple-tion and which when completed will bo one of the best stretches of high-war high-war in the United States, will not be spoiled ihy the unsightly bluff at the corner of tho mountain near Bock's hot springs. Mayor John S. Brans-ford Brans-ford and otheis Interested in the road have been working hard for sev-oi sev-oi al weeks past to solve this feature of the road, which not only spoirs tho looks of the highway, but makes it exceedingly dangerous. For days past attempts have been made to locate James Breen, who is the present owner of tho hot springs property, but not until Thursday morning morn-ing conld Mayor Brnnsford get Into communication with him. The mayor, however, Thursday morning received a telegram from ZUr. Breen at Helena, Mont, to the effect that he has no objection ob-jection whatever to the city cutting through the bluff and making the road straight above the line of the sower. Tho city secured the right of way for the sewer years ago and it runs right under the ibluff. Mayor Brans-ford Brans-ford said Thursday morning that he would immediately submit the matter to tho city council, and he has no doubt but that that body will authorize tho work of cutting away the bluff to be done and the work of completing complet-ing the road proceeded with. The telegram received by Mayor Bransford also contained other good news. Mr. Breen said that1 he intends in-tends to ibulld a good hotel above the hot springs and that he would not like to havo ;ui unsightly cut in the road in front of IL Therefore, tho elimination of tho (bluff will not only be an advantage to the city, 'but also to the improvement of the property in the vicinity of the hot springs. Mayor Bransford is delighted with the Information contained in the tele gram from Mr. Breen, as he foresees great Improvements In the northern part of the city. He Is especially delighted de-lighted that the road can bo cut through the bluff, as It will ado" to (t 100 per cent with very little increase in price, at the most not mpre than $1,500 or $2,000. With tho ' bl there, Mr. Bransford .calls attention to the fact that the road would be very dangerous In that automobiles going In opposite directions around the corner of tho mountain might collide with one another before ono could gain sight of the other. nn |
