Show A SALT LAKE BOY KILLED BY TRAIN The body of the youth killed by tho Union Pacific passenger train at an early hour last night was Identified this morning as that of Robert S. For-sythe For-sythe of Salt Lake City. Young Forsytho was employed as chalnman in the engineering corps of Assistant Engineer Georgo B. Stone of the Oregon Short Line, with headquarters head-quarters In Ogden. This engineering party Is now engaged in the rcvalua tion of the property of the Oregon Short Line at this point. The outgoing passenger train left the Union station at C 5G and was In charge of Conductor George Allen and Engineer Peter C. Krauss. Tho train had not yet gained full speed when It approached the overhead crossing of the Bamberger electric line and the engineer saw the boy walking on the track ahead and going In the same direction di-rection as the train When Engineer Krauss saw that the walker seemed unaware of tho approaching ap-proaching train ho sounded the whistle whis-tle and bell. The boy looked around In time to realize his per.l and made a Jump to escape, but was too late, the side of the pilot striking him In the back, throwing him several feet to one sldo of tho track The train was brought to a stop and backed to tho station after the Injured Injur-ed boy had been placed on board He was still alive on the train, but the last faint indication of life disappeared disappear-ed shortly after he was carried Into the baggage room at the station. From the Injuries sustained It is remarkable re-markable that death was not Instantaneous. Instan-taneous. There wero two ugly wounds in the back of the head, tho skull being be-ing crushed and depressed in both places. The shoulder blades were crushed, back broken and both arms broken, the right arm being almost torn from the shoulder. The remains will be shipped to Salt Lake City where the body will be received re-ceived by the sorrowing parents. |
