Up to two years ago, Mr. Treseder made his home in this -city, but since then he has become assistant manager of the Mitchell, Lewis & Staver company, com-pany, wholesale dealers In farming an dother machineiy in Boise. Tho Boiso Statesman, of Into date, contained the following article: The Irrigators, that is the name chosen for the Boise team in the Union association. L. D. Treseder of 319 North Seventh street, submitted tho namo as his suggestion, and he draws down the seasoir ticket offered of-fered by the management. Of tho several hundred suggestions submitted probably ho moro appropriate appro-priate name could havo been chosen. Tho committee, composed of John M. Haines, E. W Schubert and Rollly Atkinson, spent several' honis Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon In considering tho names on the long list submittod, from which they were to make their choice. The problem they faced was (a difficult one, as may be seen from tho partial list published horewlth The members of the committee gave every suggestion careful consideration considera-tion and talked . over tho possibilities possibil-ities of each. , When It is considered that Irriga- tlon Is the main issue in the entire district covored by the Union association associ-ation and that moro money has been spent for irrigation in Idaho than in any other portion of that district it must be conceded that irrigators is a fitting title for any company which Is to represent the state capital in competitive athletics. Recently the government has decided to spend $20, 000,000 In pushing irrigation in Idaho That factor alono should establish Boise's title to the name Following Is the letter submitted by tho prlzo winner, Mr. Treseder "Sporting Editor, Statesman. "Dear Sir 'I consider the nickname nick-name of 'The Irrigators the most appropriate ap-propriate by reason of the vast amount of irrigation that is being dono in this vicinity, both by tho reclamation rec-lamation service and by private corporations, cor-porations, and believing that It will not only make a good nick-name for the club, but thnt It will also bo a first-class advertisement for the city, I am, ' "Yours truly, "L. D TRESEDER, "319 North Seventh street, "Boiso, Idaho." In choosing the name the committee commit-tee had considerable difficulty in choosing between the suggestion of Mr Treseder and that of C. W.
