Show H FISH HATOHERY FOR OGDEN. H A government fish hatchery is to be established in Utah. The H state has a hatchery near Salt Lake and. one in the southern part of H the state. Why not induce our congressional delegation, as a factor in selecting the site, to urge tho placing of the hatchery on Rice H Greek, to the north of North Ogden. H Havo you ever seen Rice Greek? It is one of tho clearest moun- M tain brooks in all the west. It wells from the side of the mighty H peak to the north of this city and ripples over the rocks. Rising at H an altitude of 5200 feet, the stream drops 500 feet in less than half H a mile. Before the water reaches the lowlands it is aerated and suit- H able in temperature and purity for fish culture. At one time the H brook, which, at lowest period, flows two second feet of water and H is never frozen over, was filled with trout, proving this mountain H stream to be the natural habitat of piscatorial life. H Within a stone's throw of a car line and having the advantages H essential to successful trout culture, including freedom from flood H waters, Rice Greek, near its head, is an ideal stream for a fish Hl hatchery. |
