Miss Bernico Burnhnm and Miss Charlotte Greenwood Green-wood are headllnors of one of the best bills the house has had in a number of weeks. These two clever girls are entertainers who can make a hit anywhere, any-where, for they made good here and und that Is a hard Job Miss Burn-ham Burn-ham proved herself a charming entertainer en-tertainer with her vocal and instrumental instru-mental selections. Her two numbors about "man" are good. There might bo some natural born comediennes who are better than Charlotte Greenwood, Green-wood, but Martin Beck has not seeu them yet, or ho would have them on the Orpheum circuit. Sho Is n wonderful won-derful laugh-producer. Her grotesque comedy would mnke a sphinx smile. She bus n good "understanding' of humor and long "reach" for the "good ones."' which has helped her to pick the "poaches" of comedy which she puts over in the best possible manner. man-ner. "The Intruders" Is the title of a one-act comedy ably presented by Herbert Her-bert Brenon and Helen Downing assisted as-sisted by Raymond Clure. The sketch is properly named, but somo of thu comedy Is a little far-fetched. Brenon Is clever. He takes advnntago of ever' ev-er' opportunity to got nil there is out ofMhe role of a confirmed bachelor. Miss Downing, possessing a charming personality, makes a typical young widow. Clure's Interpretation of the bachelor's frlond is pleasing. A high-class and refined musical act Is' that of the Three California Oirls, Miss Grace Marshall. Mlsa Elizabeth Eliz-abeth Ames and Miss Grace Freeman. The trio with a piano, violin and 'cello render some artistic selections which are way abovo the average. Each member "of the act displays exceptional ex-ceptional musical ability. Doris Wilson has a good voice which sho uses to splendid advantngo In the rendition of several songs, accompanied accompa-nied by a rich display of gowns. It is difficult for a woman Just singing songs to roako good In vaudeville unless un-less she has somo extra scenery or effects, but Miss Wilson does this and makes good. Russell and Devlrne,' two contortionists, contor-tionists, billed as tho frog and the lizard, present a novol act that is really real-ly sood. Every little detail is carrlod out In tho scenic- effects and evolutions evolu-tions which tho nnmc of the act implies. im-plies. RuseeU's trapeze work Is exceptionally ex-ceptionally well executed. "An Artist's Dream" Is the title of n pretty little sketch presented by Taylor, Pypor nnd Langton. Tho act , depicts tho artist's studio with many untouched canvases ready for the j master's touch. The artist Upon receiving re-ceiving n flattorlng offer for the finished fin-ished pictures falls asleep. The spirit spir-it of a great master appears and with a magic wand, makos the finished jplc- turo appear on each canvas. Tho artist finally awakes to find that it was only a dream. Several good selections by the Orpheum Or-pheum Orchestra and dome good Klu-odromc Klu-odromc pictures conclude an all-around all-around entertaining bill, which runs the remainder of the week with Wednesday Wed-nesday and Saturday matinees. |
