Harold Henwood at the Brown Palace hotel la3t night, following a quarrel, died at St. 4- Luke's hospltal--lshortly before f noon. A charge of murder will now be placed against Henwood, who Is In jail. T Denver, May 25.-A quarrel, presumably pre-sumably starting over a woman, and continuing over the merits of different differ-ent brands pf champaguo, resulted In a trlpple shooting shortly before midnight mid-night last night In the "bar room of the Brown Pnlac6 hotel Frank H. Henwood, an agent of the Globe Blow Gas company of New York, did the shooting. S. L. (Tony) VonPuhl. of SL Louis, a "wine agents and well known asa balloonist, was. the object of the shooting' and received re-ceived three bulldts, one In tho shoulder, should-er, oneIn the right wrist and one in the Abdomen. jjV' J. Copeland, a mining man of Victor, Colo., rccehed two bullets, one In the left leg and the other in the abdomen. Atkinson and Copeland were bystanders, by-standers, and had nothing to do with the quarrels. Von Puhl may be fatally Injured. Atkinson and Copland will recover. Henwood is in Jal, and will be held pending the outcomo of his victim's Injury. According to Henwood, he and Von Puhl mot only -yesterday. A quarrel, in which the name of an actress was uecd, started later and finally resulted re-sulted In Henwood calling Von Puhl a liar. Von Puhl's Instant reply was a smash to Henwood's face, which sent him reeling. Tho latter then drew n rovolver and emptied Its five chambers beforo bystanders could disarm him. Frlonds of both men state that tho quarrel really started over a Dcnvor society woman. Von Puhl hns been In Denver several sever-al days endeavoring to arrango for a ballwoon flight, the crossing of tho Rockies being tho objects. Ho holds a number of balloon records, Including Includ-ing the speed record for long flights, having made tho dlstanco from SL Louis to Charleston, S. C, COO miles, in 15 hours |
