Show MASON CAMP A VERY BUSY ONE Ono of the busiest spots In the west is in and near the Mason mining camp of Nevada, whole copper mines arc being equipped for large produc tinn whom tho X'Avniln Pnnnor Rnlt Railroad company Is rushing to completion the line from mines to smelter, and where the Mason Valley Val-ley Mines company is constructing a smelter for the treatment of 800 tons of ore daily. Walter C. Orom, general gen-eral -manager of the Copper Belt company, returned from a two weeks visit to this active center, and ho says that so much is going on that it was the hardest work of his life to come away from it. Tho Copper Belt company is laying a spur track from the Mason "Valley company from the main line to tliw lower tramway terminal At Thon son, tho smelter site, 1200 feet of sid Ing Is being Installed. At Mason. 2000 feet of sidings are being laid At Nordyke, stock yards, depot and other conveniences are being erect ed; also ?i new depot at Hudson. All this work should be done within with-in ton days or two weeks, upon whlcn the task of laying track on the last leg of the main line Horn Hudson to Ludwlg will be started The grading grad-ing for this part of tho line is practically prac-tically finished, and tics und rails are arriving in large quantities. Mr Orem has scheduled this to be finished, and the lond ready for tho transportation of ores by October 1, and the Mason Valley "management expects to have the smelter blown In by November 1. Tho Copper Belt locomotive for ore hauling purposes has been received and the steel ore cars are en route. At the Nevada Douglas propert), of which Mr. Orem is manager also, the main incline and stations at the principal levels are ready for operation, opera-tion, and chutes are being jiut in at various points desired. The ore bin capacity at the Ludwlg mine is being doubled, the compressor plant and other equipment removed to the new incline of the Ludwlg, while woric on erecting the tram line from tho Douglas Hill section is now guilder way. $-: Tho Douglas tunnel has bconequip-ped bconequip-ped with, permanent tracks and the j timbering is done.- Work of develop-ing develop-ing and preparing the Coppor 'BasMi section of the mine for production will bo started soon, but this section will be developed mainly as extraction progreBBea., .
