Show r . y win r i 1 1 TIM Liu) M Delegate Writes a Letter to a Paper Which Stirs Moyer Butte, Mont., Aug. 1 For the first time sinco the Western Federation of Miners opened their convention here, the delegates went Into executive session ses-sion this morning to consider a report of a ways and means committee favoring favor-ing the appointment of a committee to go Into the Black Hills and Investigate Investi-gate conditions. Following the roll call at the opening open-ing of the regular session, President Moyer asked as a matter of personal privilege for the floor. Ho held in his hand a copy of tho "Industrial Workers of the World," a Spokane publication dated July 27, with a front page cartoon, representing Congressman Congress-man Victor Berger of Wisconsin. Eugene Eu-gene Debs and other Socialist labor leaders as rurales of Mexico. The paper also made refedences to "political "poli-tical ghouls" and "political rats." Waving tho paper in the air. President Presi-dent Moyer demanded the name of the delegate who was acting as a reporter for the "Industrial Worker of tho World." Delegate Erabree, of Nome, Alaska, No. 240, said that, though he was not reporting the convention for that paper, pa-per, he had written a personal letter to tho editor. Mr Hazelwood. President MoJ'er then announced that the convention had gone on record rec-ord unanimously as commending and endorsing Congressman Bcreer. "I ask the Socialists at this convention," con-vention," he said, "do these terms apply to Bercer and Debs?" Cries of "No," were given to the President's question. . Continuing, Mr. Mover said the paper pa-per stated that Butte had a solid delegation "By this they must mean," said Mr Moyer, "that they are unite 1 for political poli-tical action along political lines or aro in favor of the Industrial Workers of the World The communication was signed 'A Delegate.'
