Show TRANSPORTA.iON PROJECTS IN CHINA Some Chinese merchants of Kai Ying Chow propose to establish a lino 1 of steam launches to run between Kai Ying Chow and Swatow, and have applied for permission to dredge tho Han river so ,as to enable shallow draft launches to ply between these two places. It Is reported that a company Is to be formed with a capital of 20,000.-000, 20,000.-000, divided into 2.000.000 shares of 10 each, to construct a line of rail- way from Shen-Chun. on the Kowloon-Canton Kowloon-Canton line, running via Tnn-Shul, Hal-fong, Lu-fung. Hul-lal, Piu-nlng and KIt-yang to Chao-chow Fu, a distance dis-tance of 200 miles. The promoters are men of substance In Kai Ying Chow and Chao-chow Fu, and a largo proportion of the required capital Is said to have been already promised Instead of the electric tram line mentioned in last year's report, it Is now proposed to construct a light railway to connect Swatow wlththe neighboring city of Chleng-hai, about ten miles distant.
