Show Beattie Will Be Held For the Killing of His Wife Richmond, Va , July 22. Henry C. Beattie, Jr., who is under arrest charged with the killing of his young, wife, sent a message to his father today to-day in which he declared: "Absolutely-untrue "Absolutely-untrue in every particular." Tho message referred to the signed statement of Paul Beattie, his cousin, to the effect that he had bought a shotgun with which Beattie shot hh wife on a lonely road near here. With Henry C. Beattie, Jr , and his cousin, Paul D. Beattie, under arrest and a signed statement from tho lattor that he bought for his cousin the shotgun with which young Mrs Plenry C. Beat-tie Beat-tie was killed In their possession tho police set about today to strengthen their case against the accused husband. hus-band. Tho latter has been cool, and did not seem surprised when Informed of the statement made by his cousin, but said nothing to indicate he would abandon the story ho has told from the first that his wife was shot to death by a strange man from tho roadside' while seated beside him in hig automobile., Paul Beattie went into convulsions when arrested and .was unconscious for some 'time. Tho coroner's Inquest was resumed today. Whatever may be tho result of tho inquiry the police declare they will hold tho husband for trial. They believe tho crime was committed by one man and Paul Beattie will bo held as a witness.
