Show I Representatives Frcni Utah at Chicago 4-H Cong. i Five Utah girls won awards in! ! the National 4-H club congress held in Chicago, December 2-9, in j connection with the international ! livestock show. j The winners listed were: La Von Gurr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.! Wallace Gurr of Frovo; Normal Roberts of Woods Cross; Dorothy' Jorgenson .daughter of Mr. and : I Mrs. A. M. Jorgenson of Amalga, I Dorothy Williams, daughter of , Mr. and Mrs. V. T. Williams of Devils Slide and Carina Hcslop, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H, S. Heslop of West Weber. Miss Gurr was chosen one of six national "beautifiers," winning win-ning the western division contest. In the blue ribbon division of canning for an emergency meal was Miss Williams, while Miss Roberts Ro-berts received a blue ribbon for her school outfit. Miss Jorgenson was the fourth one of the group to receive a blue ribbon for her two piece wool dress, and Miss Heslop won a white award for her wool dress. Marva Lu Hillyard of Smithfield, June McRae of East Granger and Marjorie Dyring, together with Wanda Compbell of Provo, Gayle Stauffer of Providence, Betty Ar-ney Ar-ney of Corinne, Clair Bello of Magna and Hollis Smith of Smith-field Smith-field also attended the congress. At the club congress this year were more than 1700 club members mem-bers from 44 states of the union and Canada, piloted by 250 leaders. lead-ers. Tours of Chicago were made by the groups and several luncheons lunch-eons were given by manufacturers of agricultural food products. Ten national athletic champions entertained en-tertained the club members along with nationally known entertainers. |
