Show Crop Insurance Director Picked i Preul George, Millard county I farmer for 25 years and AAA farmer fieldman since 1940, has been appointed Utah Director for the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation, Cor-poration, J. pari Wright, manager of the Corporation, announced today. to-day. Mr. George has been active in ; Triple-A work since 1936. He was a farm supervisor in Millard county from 1936 to 1940 and a member of the county committee in 1940. He was appointed district fieldman in 1940 and has supervised super-vised AAA work in a large number of the counties in the. state. He has owned and operated his 345 mere farm for 25 years. His experience as a farmer is diversified diversi-fied in that he has raisd cattle, turkeys, and chickens. He has water wa-ter for 225 acres of cropland and raises considerable grain and alf (Ufa for both hay and seed. Mr. George has been active in community welfare, having served ser-ved as ward bishop at Kanosh for 14 years and is now president of (the Millard Stake. He was in the merchantile business for 8 years and served in the Millard county school board for 12 years. As state FCJC director, with headquarters in the State AAA office in Logan, Mr-. George will have charge of adjusting loss claims, supervising tire work of lass adjusters, studies of yields and lasses, approval of county agricultural ag-ricultural data, and other operations opera-tions of the corporation in Utah. He will work closely with the State AAA Committee, which is in charge of the sales end of the crop insurance program. Federal crop insurance is in effect this year only in Cache county on spring wheat. Preparations Prepara-tions have begun already for an -expanded program in 1946, when Mr. George hopes it will be possible pos-sible to have crop insurance in every county in the state. Under the law, insurance can be writ- ten in a county only if applications applica-tions are submitted covering 50 farms or a third of the f?rms producing insurable crops. |
