Show COMMISSIONER RACE GOES TO RUN OFF Leo C. Nielsen, Louis P. Maughan, Parley Reese and William Worley are Runoff Run-off Candidates Four successful democratic candidates who survived the primary pri-mary election, Wednseday began I intensive campaigning for the runoff election to be conducted in j the county on October 8- Seeking the party nomination I for four-yaer commissioner are Leo C. Nielsen, incumbent, and present chairman of the commission, commis-sion, and Louis P. Maughan, both of Hyrum. Evan H. Bankhead, of Wellsville, the other candidate, was eliminated. For the two-year commission post, William Worley, incumbent, and Parley A. Reese, Benson ward j farmer and stockman, will spend ! the next month seeking the vot-I vot-I er's favor. Eleminated from that race were Bishop N. W. Merkely, L. Ray Robinson and Robert Y. Crook-ston Crook-ston of Logan. For county treasurer, M. T. Beck, incumben.t defeated William Wil-liam C. England, Logan newspaper news-paper publisher, and a former member of the state legislature, to win the democratic nomination. nomina-tion. Roy A. Stewart, incumbent, county treasurer, polled the largest lar-gest single vote' for victory over Serge C. Ballif. On the Republican ticket, A. J. Fuhriman, prominent Logan business man and farmer, defeated defeat-ed Truman S. Curtis, in one of the most interesting races of the election, for the nomination of two-year county commissioner. Parley Savage polled a three-to-one majority over his opponent, 7red H. Whittle of Richmond, for , the Republican county assessor I nomination. For city judge, Jesse P. Rich, incumbent, polled a majority over i L. D. Naisbilt, to win the Re- publican nomination for that of-I of-I ftce. i In statewide contests, David W. Moffat garnered a large majority of the Cache County voes for Justice of the Supreme Court and J. Bracken Lee, won the Republican Repub-lican nomination for Congressman first district. |
