Show 200,000 Tree Seedlings Will Be Available More than 200,000 tree seedlings have been planted at the Clark-McNary Clark-McNary nursery her for distribution distribu-tion to farmers next spring, Paul M. Dunn, dean of the school of forestry at Utah State Agricultural College announced Saturday. These seedlings, which are grown at the nursery under provisions of the Clark-McNary act, will be distributed dis-tributed to farmers at half the cost of growing them. Nine varieties of trees will be available, and when distributed they will range in size from six to 36 inches, Dean Dunn said. Those varieties now being grown include: Siberian elm, Russian olive, green ash, black loclust, honey locust, Siberian pea tree, Ponderosa pine, blue spruce and the eastern red cedar. k Dean Dunn urged farmers who plan on planting trees next spring, to make preparations now so the soil will be in the condition to aid the tree growth. He explained that weeds should be cut and soil cultivated cul-tivated to obtain maximum growth next year. |
