Show College Debaters Prepare For Forensic Meet Debate officials at Utah State Agricultural college were preparing prepar-ing this week for October 30, 31 and November 1, when representatives represen-tatives from seven other rocky mountain schools will converge here for the annual conference of the Rocky Mountain Forensic League, according to Professor Evan Ev-an .'-. Murray, debate coach." " Utah State's third year as a member of the league brings the conference to the Logan campus for the first time since the organization organi-zation began, and will see members mem-bers of schools from four mountain states participate. Schools expressing intentions of attending this year's league meet are Montana State, Colorado University, Uni-versity, Denver University. Colo- rado State, Wyoming university and the three schools from Utah, Brigham Young university, Utah university and the host school, U.S.A.C. During the three-day meet, eight committees will meet, and there will be three general assemblies. At committee meetings, one representative rep-resentative from each school will take part, while all present will participate in the general assemblies, assem-blies, Professor Murray said. Also featured at the conference will be extemporaneous speaking, oratory, after-dinner speaking, and debate. Topics for extemporaneous speaking will be "Inflation," "Pri- vate Industry vs. Total War," and "America's Post-war Peace Aims." In the after-dinner speaking division, di-vision, entrants will discuss the topic, "Should We Shoot the Elephant?" Ele-phant?" Eight topics dealing with national policy will be discussed at the committee meetings, It was explained. The debate question, which was selected by the national association associa-tion of Teachers of Speech, will be "Resolved, that the federal government should regulate by law all labor unions in the United States constitutionality conceded." |
