In the above wording St. Matthew described the! event which all Christians celebrate this week-end the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Even in the face of the most horrible war the world has ever known we can pause a moment and reflect upon the Jife of our Redeemer who gave his life that all man-' kind can be saved. His life was short but the things he did and the words he uttered have resounded through the world even to this clay. Through a selfish desire they have thrown all nations into turmoil; they have upset the aims and desires of men and women who sought to follow the teaching of our Lord,' and have forced their sons to take up arms in defense of the ideals he advocated. advo-cated. Yet we can not give up hope and determination determina-tion Let us fight to the bitter end, if necessary, to re-establish the life of freedom and peace. Let us celebrate the Easter day in the forms of enjoyment that have become a custom; but let the day not pass by without a fervent prayer for wisdom and understanding under-standing upon the part of our leaders so they can continue their effort to win the war and then win the peace a peace that will be permanent with fairness to all. |
