Show HYDE PARK 7 A testimonial honoring J. W. Hyde was held Friday evening in the ward chapel. Mi-. Hyde was recently called to serve in the Cache Stake high council. He had been the first counsellor in the Hyde Park bishopric for six years. Prior to being called into the bishopric Mr. Hyde had been active ac-tive in various church organizations, organiza-tions, including president of the YMMIA. A program, with Mrs. Ariel Waite in charge consisted of the following numbers: two vocal duets, Mrs. Delmar Waite and Mrs. Lew Balls; two accordion solos, Mrs. Orson Perkes; humorous humor-ous reading, Mrs. June Gibbons; two violin duets, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Perkes; vocal solo, Mrs. E-Obert Parson; comic reading, Charles Hyde; original funny paper, pa-per, C. L. Ashcroft; short talk and presentation of gift to Mr. Hyde, Bishop C. A. Hurren; response, J. W. Hyde. Following the program a dance was held in the amusement amuse-ment hall. A large crowd of relatives rel-atives and friends of Mr. Hyde were in attendance. ' A party honoring the officers was given by the Belief Society presidency, Avon Lamb, Oneita Waite, Ardella Hancey and Verda Balls, Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Lamb. A short program pro-gram was given. Vocal duftt, Lucille Lu-cille Waite, and Verda Balls; tribute tri-bute to the Relief Society teachers, teach-ers, Zola Daines; humorous reading, read-ing, Lillie McQuarrie. Luncheon Crockett visited at the Leon Hal-verson Hal-verson home. Miss Zelpha Nielsen of Los An-gfeles, An-gfeles, is spending her vacation at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Nielsen. Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Purser of Preston were visiting relatives here last week. Private Lynn Jensen spen1-. the week end visiting his grand parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Moses Jensen, nad his wife the former Emma Reese of Noith Logan, w'o was just re ' x.t1: leif.ased from a. local lo-cal hOopital following an appendicitis appen-dicitis operation. Private Jensen is stationed at Fort Douglas awaiting await-ing his assignment into limited service. Lynn Balls, LuDean Balls and Dale Nielsen of the TJ. S. navy j are enjoying furloughs following j their boot training at Farragut, Idaho, Lynn is, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Heber Balls; LuDeane is the son of Mrs. Maida Balls; Dale is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Nielsen. A special prayer serv;.v for the boys in the armed forces was held Sunday evening. The speaker was Prof. E. A. Jacobsen wit'i short talks by Corporal Woouiow Sea-mons Sea-mons and liishop Hurren. Mr. and Mrs. Fenton Waite and daughters, Idaiten and Miry Ann, of Wiilad, spent the week end renewing acquaintances and visiting visit-ing relative;'. ' Mrs. J. Mrs. Manilla Cook is confined to her bed suffering with a very painful case of eye infection. Mrs. Merrill Brenchle y and 4 three children left for their home in Greenriver Wyo., on Tuesday after spending the past three weeks here with her mother, Mrs. Christena Glenn. Miss Margaret Glenn was pleasantly pleas-antly surprised at her home on Wednesday evening by a number of her' school friends. Games and a no-host luncheon were enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. John N. Larsen, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Myers; and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Riggs attended funeral services at Montpelier, Idaho on Monday for their aunt, f ' Mrs. Hannah Wells, a former resident resi-dent of Wellsville. They spent the week end leaving here on Saturday. Satur-day. Mr. and Mrs. John M. Larsen and children Linda and Karen Elaine of Ogden are spending a week here guests of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jones and Mr. and Mra. John N. Larsen. was served and the rest of the afternoon af-ternoon spent in visiting. There were 40 guests present. Mrs. Sarah Ashcroft was observing observ-ing her 80th birthday anniversary Vednesday. Many relatives and friends called to wish her a happy birthday. Members of her family who spent the day with her were Mr. and Mrs. Geogre Merrill, Mr. and Mrs. Norvell Butler, Mrs. Evelyn Eppicb. and Miss Afton Merrill of Trenton, Mr. and Mrs. Veral Hultze of Smithfield, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ashcroft and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dell Ashcroft and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wihard Duce, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Duce, Mr. and Mrs. Lemoyle Harris, George F. Ashcroft and family, and Miss Eunice Ashcroft all of Hyde Park and Mr. and Mrs. Aura Ashcroft of Logan. Four grandsons could not be present at the party as they are serving with the armed arm-ed forces. They are Franklin Duce, Rulon Ashcroft, Blaine Merrill and Ariel Hultz. Mrs. Arden Balls and three daughters of Brigham City are making their home for the duration dura-tion with Mrs. Balls' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Woolf. Mr. Balls is serving in the U. S. army. Mrs. Franklin Duce and small daughter, Bonnie Jean left last week to spend the summer in Weston. Mrs. Duce and daughter have spent seven months at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wiilard D)uce. Lt. Duce is stationed in Alaska with the U. S. air force. Mrs. Annie Shaw and daughter, DeAnn and Mrs. Maurme Crockett, returned last week from a two weeks visit in Salt Lake City.
