Show Lecturer Discusses Family Life Problems at USAC Institute Problems facing the youth of today are. the result, of bad education edu-cation and until we realize that it is our fault they are not prepared and nothing can be done about it, Dr. W. E. Blatz, distinguished international in-ternational authority on child development, de-velopment, told a large group at-tedning at-tedning the second annual family life institute at Utah State Agricultural Agri-cultural college Thursday. Discussion today centered around the theme "families tomorrow," with Dr. Blatz lecturing on "Child-' hood to Youth Under War's Influence," In-fluence," and 'at 8 p. m. this evening even-ing in the amphitheater, he will climax the two day conference with an address, "hostages to Peace." Dr. Blatz, who is director of the St. George's school of child study at Toronto, Canada, gave three lectures on various topics connected con-nected with the theme "families today," during the opneing day sessions. He also was available for a consultation period. "Juvenile delinquency has increased in-creased mainly because we as parents par-ents have not laid down certain fundamental patterns during the early infancy of the child," he declared. de-clared. Discussing family relations, Dr. Blatz pointed out that the ''family ''fam-ily holds together as long as the individual gets satisfaction. The individual will belong to an organization or-ganization if he can get something some-thing out of it, and if not, he will lose interest and drop out. Stressing the emotional development develop-ment of children as a major factor fac-tor in their early education, Dr. Blatz pointed out that in the past this type of training has been conducted con-ducted very haphazardly. Expkaiiiing the two emotions, fear and anger, he said, ''There is no such thing as an unconscious uncon-scious emotion. We are emotional because we are conscious of our unpreparedness to meet a certain situation. Emotions are good for you.
