Show PROMINENT MATRON OF SMITHFIELB DIED FRIDAY 8 Funeral services will be conducted conduct-ed in the Smithfieid tabernacle Sunday at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Agnes Heaps Thornley, 72, who died at her ' home early Friday morning following an extended illness of nearly two years.' ' ' ' " A life long resident of Smithfieid. she was born there on October 28, 1870, a daughter of David and Elizabeth Argreaves Heaps. She was married to Ralph T. Thornley in Smithfieid, August 5, 1891. The couple celebrated their golden wedding wed-ding anniversary ' last August. A well known music lover, she was an active choir member for 50 years and last year was chosen as a representative from Smith-field Smith-field to sing in the Singing Mothers Mo-thers contest held in Salt Lake City. She was a member of the ! choir and singing mother's organizations organ-izations of the Second ward. , She was also active in other religious re-ligious circles, being a member of 1 the Relief Society for many years and also took part in civic affairs of Smithfieid. Surviving are her husband and six of 'her 11 children: Arnold I Thornley of Richmond; Mrs. Eileen ! T. Weaver, Echo Earl Thornley and ' A. Seldon Thornley, all of Smith-field; Smith-field; Mrs. Geneva Ransom, Preston, Pres-ton, Idaho: and Benson Thornley . of Smithfieid. Also 21 grandchildren grandchild-ren and 3 great-grandchildren are among the survivors. One brother, George Heaps of Smithfieid and Mrs. Elizabeth Anderson of Central, Idaho. Friends may call at the family home in Smithfieid Saturday evening even-ing and Sunday until time of services. ser-vices. ! Interment will be in the family plot of the Smithfieid cemetery under un-der direction of the W. Loyal Hall mortuary of Logan. It is requested that all members of the Smithfieid Second and Third ward choirs attend the services. ser-vices. Mr and Mrs. Wright Weaver, Mr and Mrs. Echo Thornley and Mr. and Mrs. Seldon Thornley, all of Idaho Falls were visiting with Mrs. Thornley at the time of her death. |
