Show jTo Celebrate ; I On Sunday, October IS, lsMy., Bishop and Jlrs. C. J. Plowman of Smithfield will celebrate their fifty-first wedding anniversary. All of those wishing to attend open op-en house in honor of this occasion occa-sion are invited to come to the family home from 3 to 7 P. M. on Sunday the 13th of October. Bishop Plowman, son of J. J. Plowman and Matta Marie Jor-gensen Jor-gensen was born in B.edstead, Den mark in 1861 and came to the United States with his parents at the age of four years, making his first home in Mantua, Utan ana later in Smithfield, where he has lived since 1870. Mrs. Plowman, daughter of Al-onzo Al-onzo Raymond and Elizabeth Hi-llyard Hi-llyard was born in Smithfield on March 18, 18 70. Her mother left England on January 23, 1853 at the age of 14 years and walked all the way across the continent with an ox team company, arriv - ing in Salt Lake late in October of the same year. Bishop Plowman married Zilp-ha Zilp-ha A. Raymond on November 27, 1889 in the Logan Temple. Five of their six children are now living. liv-ing. They are :Mrs. David Ros-kelley, Ros-kelley, Smithfield; Mrs. Jesse Walker, Wa-lker, Mendon; Mrs. Rulon Merrill, Merr-ill, Richmond; Lowell T. Plowman, Plow-man, Smithfield; and Mrs. Alden Lillywhite, Washington, D. 0. Both Bishop and Mrs. Plowman have been active church workers. Bishop Plowman served as Bishop of the Smithfield First Ward for 13 years, president of the Y. M. M I. A., on three different occasions, occas-ions, ' a member of the Sunday School Superintendency, acting as teacher in various organizations, organiza-tions, and filling two missions to Denmark. Mrs. Plowman has served as a member- af the Relief Society and Y. L. M. I. A Presidency as stake . officer in the Relief Society, and , as teacher in that organisation : for many years. |
