Show Hamed Temple ' President Succeeds Position Held by Joseph Quinney Jr. Appointment of El Ray Chris, tiansen, nrst counselor in the Cache stake presidency and prominent prom-inent Utah educator, as president of the Logan Temple was announced an-nounced Thursday by David O. McKay, a member of the first presidency. President Christiansen succeeds Joseph Quniney Jr., president for the last six years who wilt' leave soon to assume duties as president presi-dent of the Canadian mission field with headquarters at Toronto, Canada. A native of Sanpete county, President Christiansen came to Logan in 1916 and was graduated from Utah State Agricultural college col-lege in 1920. After completing his college work, he served several years as a high school teacher, mainly in the Jordan school district, dis-trict, working summers with the U. S. forest service. In the spring of 1937 he was called by the first presidency of the church to preside over the Texas mission field which includes the states of Texas and Louisiana. He served in this capacity until 1941 when he returned to join the faculty of the Logan senior high school semniary. Active in church and civic affairs af-fairs throughout his entire life, he served during the 1924-25 term as principal of the LDS church school, the Kelsey academy, Kel. sey, Tepcas. His wife is the former Lewella Rees, also a native of Sanpete county. They have a son and two daughters, Frances Christiansen, a student at USAC; John Christiansen, Christian-sen, student at Logan senior high school, anj Dorothy Christiansen, student at Logan Junior high school. |
