Show Former Cove Bishop Dies Had Directed Ward Affairs for 34 Years Funeral servises for John C. Larsen, 88, bishop of Cove ward for 34 years, who died Tuesday night at his home in Logan, were conducted today at 1 p.m. in the Seventh ward chapel. Believed to have served longer than any bishop in the Mormon church at the time he was relieved re-lieved in 1916 to return to Logan, Mr. Larsen also had been active as a ward teacher and other capacities ca-pacities in both the Seventh and Eleventh wards. Since moving to Logan he had done considerable work in the Logan Temple. He was born January 13, 1883 in West Weber, a son of Christian J. and Barbara D. Olsen Ladsen. He moved with his family to Spring City in Sanpete county in 1861 where he spent his boyhood and participated with his father in the Black Hawk Indian war. Later the family moved to Logan where he attended the old Brig-ham Brig-ham Young college and helped construct the Temple and tabernacle. He married Susannah Titensor Larsen who die,j several years ago. Later he married Ellen Titensor. Survivors include his widow; the following sons and daughters: John C. Larsen Jr., of Woodland, Cal.; Mrs. David Nash of Lin-rose, Lin-rose, Idaho; Louis W. Larsen and J. Rube Larsen of Salt Lake City; Mrs. C. Trimble of Fill-mode; Fill-mode; David Larsen of Thayne, Wyo.; Mrs. Alma Hendricks of Richmond; Mrs. Thomas E. Rose of Weston, Idaho; Mrs. Thomas A. Hendrciks of Lewiston; Mrs. Don C. Merrill of Provo; Mrs. Reese Maughan and Mrs. Raymond Green of Logan; 36 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildden, and four brothers and sisters, Willard Larsen Lar-sen of Fairview, Idaho; Martin , Larsen of Preston, Idaho; Mrs. Annie Hansen and Hyrum C. Larsen Lar-sen of Logan. Burial was in the family plot of the Logan city cemetery un-ded un-ded driection of the W. Loyal I Hall mortuary. |
