Show A BOON FOR UTAH. The order from the government allowing the University commissioners commiss-ioners to sell the lands reserved for the benefit of the university is a great boon to Utah, and is another proof that our greatest troubles are behind us. The means which will be at the disposal of the comrni sioners is the least parlor the benefit to be derived but the lands have to a great extent bec-n located where they may become be-come valuable. Many settlero have looked with longing eyes t tin; rich soil, so necessary to the home seekers, but have passed on to perhaps poorer places on account of the inability to obtain titles. The tern; tationa in some cases have been to freat that farmers hive broken up the ground and made ome improviments, but they have generally been of a kind that would make quick returns. Now however, men can purchaa the ground and make permanent in-provments. in-provments. It opens up mo re land for settlement settle-ment and will increase the possible homes. There is more room foi our rapidly increasing population and an inducement to settlers. It fhows also that the claims of Utah are b-ing reconized more and more, and holds out the hope, that some day Utah will receive her rights 1 1 the hands of those whe has the controling power, and al though slowly, Utah is getting there n3n the less surely. |
