| Show missionaries SPREAD GOSPEL elder wendell L hansen of ogden and keith toone of croydon shown as they broadcast from savannah ga recently in a california newspaper was the following article telling of the work of two missionaries one from ogden elder wendell L hansen and keith toone son of mr and mrs claudius toone of croydon two young mormon missionaries in savannah ga have been broadcasting radio programs of religious thought and sacred music of the great salt lake organ and celebrated mormon choir of more than voices elder hansen has been in the missionary field for 19 months and has been heard on the radio for SO 30 months elder toone has been laborin laboring for three months they are on two year missions in the southern states with headquarters in atlanta ga they are two of approximately me nand women who are laboring in all parts of the world giving several years of their lives to missionary work they have not been trained in any theological college or seminary for the ministry nor are they sent out to tobe be pro professional f assion i al preachers they earned their livelihoods liveli hoods when at home by one of ordinary labor or professional work their worthiness as ordained ministers is is proved by the permission granted them and their companions by the government authorities to labor in every civilized country where is allowed their century old record as supporters of civil and moral law is unblemished at the call of the church they left their work to voluntary devote two years or more of their time to further spread the restored gospel of jesus christ which is to be taken to every nation kindred tongue and people upon the face of the earth this is done at their own expense and without pay to promulgate truth as their church understands it tens of thousands of their believers during the past y years ears have also responded responded to this call at present it is the greatest voluntary system in the world the missionaries are able to devote full time to this missionary work by using savings accumulated while in the armed forces or by gratuitous assistance rendered by their families and friends many a poor widow works to keep her son in the mission field many in any a wife toils at home to support her absent husband and many a sacrifice is made by parents sisters and brothers for the missionary member of their family they serve without compensation ti on because they have an individual testimony of the divinity of the message they bear and feel it incumbent upon them to declare the truth to others |
