Show LETTERS TO THE EDITOR in regard to settlement of morgan county as related ed in mr weg delands ge lands address of two weeks ago some facts were deleted with respect to historical data of littleton the facts in the case are these jedediah morgan grant thomas thoma jefferson thurston and J jcsse asse C little sr came into the valley mr thurston settled at the pa place a c called lle d thurston later known as milton in honor of milton musser or old ford president jedidiah morgan grant for whom morgan county and city were named located on a tract of land north of deep creek and built his cabin on the lot where mrs airs fred giles home now stands I 1 well remember the house jesse C little sr located south of deep creek which became the county seat of morgan county some time later due to the fact that hat deep creek overflowed its banks anks the county seat was removed up to monday town hollow near the he place where albert V wiggins lives ives finally it was moved to I 1 morgan my father also built a log cabin in n which I 1 was born bom july 20 20 1872 ile ie also brought three families fro rom in salt sal f lake city for whom he be milt built three log apartments in one long on string to house robert hogg william hemming and john richards a the men were employed cutting poles for a fence skirting the county road which was the only fence ence that encircled the valley T J thurston remained here and became the bishop of the whole valley the other two returned to salt lake city where they assumed many duties jedediah M grant was counselor to pres brigham young jesse C little sr was counselor to bishop hunter for 22 years as presiding bishopric of the church ile he was also the first city marshal first fire chief first city s sexton exton and had other responsibilities i in salt lake city upon retiring from salt lake city he be came to littleton and had a two story brick house built As the masons finished that night a heavy wind swept the valley and destroyed the new building not long after it was rebuilt and stands today in good condition as a monument to littleton J C LITTLE JR for the protection of the public at some time or other we all are forced to watch loved ones suffer through illness we agree that it is s comforting to know at such iames that we can count on the care given by nurses and yet would it not be frightening to realize suddenly that the so called nurse be she graduate or practical is not capable of giving safe nursing care because of her lack of experience because this very thing has been happening lap pening throughout our state a nursing practice act ace is being presented during this present session of the legislature if the bill is passed the public can be assured of protection for all registered and practical nurses must be licensed before they will b be c p permitted ermit ted to administer nursing c care a r e according to the bill in order to become licensed 1 the registered graduate nurse must give evidence that among other things she has completed a course of study in an accredited school of nursing and she is required to pass written and oral or practical tica examinations 2 the practical nurse must give evidence verified by oath that she has completed successfully an accredited course for the training of licensed practical nurses she also must pass examinations many more changes and provisions are made in this bill for the protection of you the public and us the nurses lets support it EVELYN OLSEN |
