Show supreme court rules Th that new certificate must be issued in election the utah supreme court has ordered issuance b by y the morgan county board of canvassers of a new certificate of total votes cast in the november general election in in approving thursday a writ of mandamus filed by james T palmer and wesley anderson democratic candidates for the county commission the supreme court opinion written by justice george W latimer had unanimous concurrence the order will have the effect of placing in office mr palmer and mr anderson if as alleged the board of canvassers in inadvertently advert antly rejected 56 votes for each of the democratic candidates the republican party may contest the election if it so desires the GOP candidates declared elected to the commission posts were lincoln jensen and golden porter the county tabulation of election returns approved by the board of canvassers showed mr palmer to have received votes mr jensen mr anderson and mr porter beside each of the democratic candidates names was the notation 56 st which was meant to indicate an additional 56 straight votes for mr palmer and mr anderson the democratic candidates maintained the 56 missing votes would be required to total the full number of votes cast as shown in the canvassers tally list the plaintiffs maintained |
