Show ERNEST WHITTIER ephraim ernest whittier 02 who carried mail in ogden for 2 26 years with only one sick leave fell dead on his route wednesday morning april 15 after making his deliveries over two blocks of h his is route mr W whittier hit felt sick and returned to the wilson grocery for aid at the store he had a heart attack A few minutes later he had a second and died at al 1037 a m he was born in milton december 30 1873 he enteles the postal service september 26 1910 as a carrier most of his 26 years had been spent on the same roul south of street and w west est of wall avenue he was the oldest carrier at the ogden stati in m and would have retired in two more years he lived in milton until 1910 and married rebecca thurston there in 1900 surviving are his wife five sons and daughters and eight brot brothers and sisters funeral services were conducted cor inducted at 2 p in sunday in the L D S milton ward chapel with bishop herbert whittier officiating invocation was offered by walter E nelson and t the he benediction was waa pronounced by william giles the speakers were D M anderson orson Thomb Thoin bald alJ and N oscar malan maian the musical numbers were furnished by a string trio composed of mrs royal eccles mrs darrell J greenwall and mrs fred frorer also lois peterson and berniece tyree accompanied by phyllas Phylis ss rosevear honorary pall bearers were older members and officers of the post office service and active pall bear ers were fellow mall mail carriers the floral offerings were taken charge ot of by nelces burial was made in the milton cemetery the grave was dedicated by alma R bertoch |
