Show AIRS ALICE GATLIFF wm smith returned the fore part of the week from douglas arizona where he waz was recently called by the tragic death of his sister mrs alice gatliff who died of burns april 9 as the result of a kerosene explosion while starting a fire mrs gatliff had been a pioneer and resident of the douglas son ora old mexico for forty years she was one of the best known and best loved women of the entire section and had scores of friends including those of political power as well as those of most humble attraction in testimony of the high esteem in which mrs gatliff was held the douglas ariz dispatch of april 10 11 and 12 carried long articles concerning her life and career we are indeed sorry that space does not permit us to reprint tb these ese es e stories at least in part she was born in Kays kaysville ville utah november 1868 being one of a family of six children her parents were born in england but spent the greater part of their lives in the united states three sisters and one brother wm H smith survive she was buried from rom the L D S church in douglas ariz april 12 at one time in her life she was a resident of morgan and since has visited here occasionally and was quite well known by many residents of this section |
