Show SUMMIT ROAD WORK STARTS summit countes coun tys 1930 road program gram involving 0 the expenditure of approximately will soon b under way as soon as weather conditions permit tills this year the county j is cooperating with federal aid forest service and other officials in the road improvement work the program this year includes the oiling oiling 0 of the highway from th summit county line at parleys canyon to the wasatch county line and oiling of the main highways through the towns of kamas oakley peoa geoa echo and henefer together with the probable oiling of seven additional miles in echo canyon from the baskin sid ing to E emory mory this work will be undertaken der der taken in conjunction with the U S bureau ot of public roads under federal aid programs under cooperative agreements agreement with the national forests in the county roads will be opened up through the uintah national forest south of lone tree wyo along beaver creek and through the upper weber canyon in the wasatch forest these roads are being made to make timber in these forests ac cestable ces sable tor for market as well as to open up additions additional grazing ground tor for summer sheep and cattle ranging maintenance work in summit county wm will be carried under the patrol system the county being divided into two sections north and south of rockport rockfort Rock port george huffman of Co alvilla alville is patrolman for the northern part of the county while E J of kamas will taki tak care of the southern portion both parties will look after the maintenance ot of the park city district devoting what ever time Is necessary to this work heavy maintenance work consisting of extra gravel resurfacing will be carried on in silver creek canyon from wanship manship to the park city junction at kimballs Kim balls ranch prior to including this road in the ailing program for 1931 standard width highway bridges will be installed over the weber river at wan ship andlovec and lover over chalk creek in the north part of coalville Co alville the present bridge at chalk creek will be installed by the city over their chalk creek crossing in the northeast north east part of town A standard federal aid highway is now being constructed from morgan to the flats south of henefer which includes the widening of the tour four dangerous rock cuts near the union pacific tracks between devils slide and morgan and the widening and straightening of the remainder ot of the road along the weber river the countes coun tys share of the fund for this work amounts to L cately the balance of the money being advanced by the various cooperating agencies assi assisting stin in the work A comprehensive program of road improvement is being worked out by the county board with the expectation that by ahr end of 1932 at the latest there will be oiled highways crossing the county from one boundary to the other and to the wyoming state line |
