Show an editorial our readers attention Is called calletto to the adverl advertisement presented through our columns by united citizens against higher prices this organization Is campaigning to gl get t ta the e P people ople 0 of ut utah h to v vote ot c against amendment no 2 on the november ballot it Is set forth that unless amendment no 2 Is defeated utah farmers will lose important marketing outlets and an all utah people as consumers will have to pay more for the food they eat the clothing they wear and all the household things that go to make u up p their homes I 1 ThOv argument lathat the gaaei eeli of trails amendment would destroy i certain chain stores in utah and that the destruction of these chains would by climina ing low price competition lead to higher prices all around in communities where there are arc no chain stores we have seen some of the townsfolk go to larger communities mun muni ties ittes and shop in the chain stores there experience has repeats repeat i edly demonstrated chain stores bring business to a community and since this Is the case it should be to the advantage of our local merchants to have a chain store rather than a disadvantage we dont argue for the chain stores or against them but it does seem like cutting off our noses to spite our faces when we consider pa passing asing a law that holud ever pre arct vent another chain store from opening its doors anywhere in utah and would eventually freeze out even those chain stores that are now here we like our independent merchants they are our fellow townsmen we dont think that down in their hearts they want to get an advantage over their customers by having a discriminatory chain store tax in fact one or two have frankly told up that they think amendment no 2 should be voted down in november |
