Show News From The Mission Field ELDER CLYDE PRITCHETT WRITES FROM IIA HAWAII V AIl Elder Clyde Pritchett son of Mr and Mrs Alton dropped the editor a note from his field of mission l labors in P Pahoa Hawaii this week The letter was postmarked postmarked postmarked post post- marked in Pahoa on September 19 HI and arrived in Manti on September 21 Elder Pritchett writes Ill bet you are about ready to stop sending lX papers rs to me arent aren't you I am surely sorry for not writing sooner to tell you how much I appreciate receiving the Messenger but you know how busy busya a person can get in the mission field The time is flying by so fast it scares me to even go to bed bee any more It seems like every other day we have to te tear lr another page off the c calendar It lIt is surely a wonderful privilege to serve our Heavenly Father here herein in the mi mission ion field especially the H Hawaiian mission I am sure your father would agree with me By Bythe Bythe Bythe the way they talk about your f father a lot out here in Puna The saints tell how Pajama President Cox would come out and visit with them and eat s sale lle salmon and Poi with them and how he could speak Hawaiian Elder Pritchett h has ls apparently learned the Hawaiian language fairly fairly fairly fair fair- ly well as lS he throws bits of it in his letter here and there Most o oit of it will require requite translation tion by the senior Mr Cox Nothing makes the older people h happier than to have you talk Hawaiian to them even if they do understand English We h have lve surely had some wonderful experiences experiences experiences exper exper- here with these faithful people Their actions alone be bear lr testimony that they are lre descendants of the old Book of Mormon people Last week one of the ladies ladieS' we have been holding cottage meetings meeting with asked us to bless her small boy into the church Seven months ago she used to tell him we were Booger men so he would run runaway runaway runaway away from us Now this lady is ready for b as lS soon as lS her I husband and her mother give their ok okay lY It is surey wonderful the ways the Lord moves moves s the hearts of the people to prepare them for His Hi Te Teachings by the missionaries and local members and my heart is filled with joy every time I see seethe seethe the members trying to te teach someone someone someone some some- some some- one else the gospel I II wonder at times if the at home re really llly realize the duty that is theirs to Let their light shine before men Too many are probably like I was They read some come of the commandments of the scriptures then think they are for their neighbors or someone else instead of for themselves Each day I appreciate the teachings teachings teachings teach teach- ings of our Savior more and almost hope rope the next day will never come come because it puts me a l little closer to the time I will have to S say lY Aloha to these wonderful people and bC beautiful isles Elder Clyde L.
