L Taylor and his four children Dianne Susan Becky and La LaVor LaVor LaVor La- La Vor were there also Mr and Mrs E. E N. N Norma Lawrence Bills Bill's family and their friends came after all were counted Margene served dinner to 30 people Donald is on a sabbatical al leave from the University of Southern Illinois He is now Ii living ving in San Diego and doing research work for the school Home evening was first on the program with Margene's daughter Kimberly Ann An con con- ducting Songs readings and Santa with his sack of ot toys excited old and young Margene's Margene's Margene's Mar- Mar genes gene's little ones Stephanie Jo and Michelle Lyn were Santa's Santas Santas Santa's Santas Santa's San San- tas ta's favorites Sunday was spent in church Bill BUI and Margene and two couples sang in a double trio Bill was also narrator in the Sunday School program Margene Margene Margene Mar- Mar gene was recently sustained as president of the Relief Society in the Los Altos Ward The Taylors say the roads were good but slower as they returned home in a hurry to arrange for the burial of LaVor's sister Pearl Taylor died December 30 of ot natural causes in Salt Lake City Services were at atthe the Deseret Mortuary where many friends and relatives paid tribute to Pearl Burial was in inthe inthe inthe the Ephraim Cemetery January 5 at 1 pm p.m. with LaVor Taylor dedicating the grave She is survived by two brothers brothers broth broth- ers and two sisters LaVor Taylor Ephraim Earl Taylor Moroni Katie Munk California and Druzella Peterson Oregon New Years Year's greetings come from missionary Mary Ann In North Victoria Victoria Victoria Vic Vic- toria Australia She says that her work is going well in that part of ot the world Mary Ann is isnow isnow isnow now in a country town east of Melbourne called Sale with about people living there Many of or them are American families working on the offshore offshore off olf- shore oil drilling Because there are such a few tew families families fam fam- there there is not a branch of the church in Sale yet so Mary Ann says they have to travel 40 miles to church every Sunday They hope they can in increase increase increase in- in crease the number of ot members so they may soon have a branch there She sends greetings to everyone Karl Kari Kay Anderson and a friend Lieutenant Bill Toft of Loredo Texas drove Lake City to Ephraim Dec 29 for an early New Year visit with Kari Karl Kays Kay's folks Mr and Mrs Hayley Anderson Lieutenant Lieutenant Lieutenant Lieu Lieu- tenant Toft was especially pleased to be able to attend Sunday School services in the Ephraim North Ward since this was the first Church he attended He was baptized into the church December 1st The couple returned to Salt Lake City Sunday evening for a special New Year fireside in Karl Kays Kay's ward there Dan and Caroline Anderson and family spent Christmas in Ephraim and Mt Pleasant with their folks but were unable to make it for New Years Year's due to the heavy snow which in their area took them several days to shovel out Leah Hedelius has been spending the holidays at home in Ephraim with her folks Dr and Mrs Robert Hedelius She returned to school at Ricks College in Rexburg Idaho this week She was happy to be able to accompany her family on a trip to California while she was home Mr and Mrs Spencer Olsen enjoyed a visit with their son Steven and his wife Joyce on Christmas day The couple flew from their home in Denver to spend the day with their folks In Utah Joyces Joyce's parents Mr and Mrs Neldon Jensen met the couple at the airport in Salt Lake City and brought them to Ephraim for their brief visit Mr and Mrs Olsen spent several days in Denver during December with Steven and Joyce flying from Salt Lake City to Denver and from Denver Denver Denver Den Den- ver to Los Angeles where they visited with their son John and family Mr and Mrs Clayton Peterson Peterson Peterson Peter Peter- son spent the Christmas holiday in Ogden with their daughters Wanda and Norma and their families A grandson returned from a mission in Spain while they were there which helped make the trip a very enjoyable one Mr and Mrs Hayley Anderson Ander Ander- son spent three days in l late e December in Colorado Springs Colorado visiting with Hayley's mother Valborg Anderson at atthe atthe atthe the home of a sister and her husband Mr and Mrs Kay Kaj Carol Fellows Mrs Anderson Ander Ander- son is confined to her bed most of ot the time She appreciated appreciated appreciated the Christmas cards that were sent from friends and arid relatives and sent her best wishes to all of them Mr Fellows Is Seminary ad advisor advisor advisor ad- ad visor in that area and teaches institute at the Air Force Acad Acad- emy Hayley and Grace went to Colorado through Evanston and Cheyenne Wyoming and re returned returned returned re- re turned on Highway 50 finding the roads past Green River snow-packed snow and icy Mr and Mrs Ivan Benson returned home last Saturday after spending the Christmas and New Years Year's holidays in California with their son Owen his wife and family In Anaheim California While on the coast they were in time for the younger Bensons Benson's Bensons Benson's Bensons Benson's Ben Ben- sons son's annual ward Christmas party at the church and for a party at their home in Anah Ana- Ana h helm heim im A delightful experience was the Singing Water Pageant on the edge of the Lagoon with hundreds of bright colored lights Disneyland attractions and Knotts Berry farm with a lovely dinner at the chicken house provided added interest interest interest inter inter- est for the visitors The Bensons were sorry to have some unhappy news at Christmas time also Mrs Bensons Benson's Bensons Benson's Bensons Benson's Ben Ben- sons son's brother O. O K Olsen of Richfield was visiting In Kemmerer Kemmerer Kem- Kem Wyoming and fell suffering suffering suffering suf suf- fering a broken hip the day be before before before be- be fore Christmas He has spent the past two weeks at the Holy HolyCross HolyCross HolyCross Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City where a plastic hip was put in to replace the fractured one Mr Olsen expected to be home again this week Before leaving for California and aga again n on their return the Bensons spent several days with their son Sheryl and his wife Holly who brought them home from Salt Lake City |
