Show Board Shuffles Officers The South Sanpete School board installed a new board president last Monday evening at its regular monthly meeting Dewey Lund made a motion at the meeting to install Glen GlenLee GlenLee GlenLee Lee of Ephraim as head of the group This motion was seconded seconded seconded sec sec- by C C. C E E. E Anderson Mr Mr Lee succeeds Don Iii M. M Simmons In this capacity A motion was made to install Dean Lund as vice president This motion was made by Don Simmons Sim seconded by Dewey Lund This motion passed A motion was made by Dewey Lund that Tom be appointed as clerk of oC the board for two years The motion was passed Out-going Out president Don M M. Simmons recommended that the board write a letter of appreciation appreciation appreciation to Vernon L L. L Kunz for forthe forthe forthe the excellent service performed by him as clerk of the board A motion to this effect was made rind and passed A written financial report was given to the board showing showing showing show show- ing the balances of the accounts and all amounts spent from the budget to date The computer computer computer com com- puter print outs were discussed and several items were followed follow follow- ed through the report Some of the the possible benefits of this program were discussed and it was decided that best use could be made if each board me member had a copy of the consolidated report each month Cox Brothers sent a 1200 credit slip along with their billing to cover work done on the Manti lanU High School athletic field The board discussed this donation and C C. C E E. E Anderson made a motion to accept this donation with a vote of thanks and a letter of appreciation to Cox Brothers It was also noted that a 10 contribution was made for tor the thc band uniforms from an anonymous anonymous anonymous Manti citizen It was reported by Supt Jack Burr that Steven Peterson of Sevier School District has been hired by six school districts as coordinator for the Title V Data Processing Program He has already spent some sometime sometime ti time me with the participating dIstricts districts districts dis dIs- working with principals on the pupil personnel Package C C. C Mr Burr also said that the state had approved use of some soma of these funds to orient district district district dis dis- dis- dis personnel in the potential potential potential poten poten- of the computer for record recordkeeping recordkeeping recordkeeping keeping and instruction The board was in favor of pursuing this course of action Supt Burr gave a report on the status of the State Building Aid and bonding program He pointed out that a recent change in the laws had cut the amount of mone money that this district was supposed to receive to supplement supplement supplement supple supple- ment the building program He stated that by 1971 the district district district dis dis- would be receiving no aid and payment of this obligation from local funds could have an adverse effect on the school program The board decided to get an appointment with their legislators to try and reverse this decision With reference to the Inno Inno- Study Program the su superintendent superintendent superintendent su- su told the board of this months month's plans which in included included included in- in a visit to the district by Dr Lindeman of the State De Department Department Department De- De of Education Max lax Dalley Dailey from Iron County School District and Joe Stevens from Tooele on Jan 21 During this day the visiting personnel ex explained explained explained ex- ex how the programs operate operate operate oper oper- ate in their schools and then thenon thenon on Jan the local teachers will visit those schools Some of the teachers are going as asfar asfar asfar far as Meeker Colo to visit schools It was pointed out that the district was only paying mileage and that the teachers were going to stand the expense for lodging and meals The building trades class of the Gunnison Valle Valley High School has requested 1000 to buy materials materials materials ma ma- to build a garage at Gunnison Valle Valley Elementary School The board discussed the possible uses and the educational education education- al values of this program and anda a motion was made by Dewey Lund and seconded by Dean J i 1 t 1 t L hI net ct Deane Th e Lund to IU U gr a n ima s j. j Lu o motion passed In response to a letter from Oliver Field of the March of Dimes campaign the board re reaffirmed reaffirmed reaffirmed re- re affirmed a past policy not to use the school as devises for forthe forthe forthe the collection of money They did recognize the educational value of such a program and agreed that the school should cooperate in any educational programs available A motion was by Dean Lund to participate In an educational program but not collection of money In the school The motion motion motion mo mo- mo- mo tion was passed for In response to a request donations by teachers for the Utah Symphony Orchestra by byE E E.
