Show FARM BURE VU IV AGAINST THE CONS amendments TS tracy R welling secretary of the utah state farm bureau advises that the farm bureau has taken the position ot of opposing the proposed constitutional amendments nos 1 and 2 on the premises first that the proposals are of euch such a nature aa as to he be susceptible more than one interpretation second unquestionably the pur pose of the proposed amendments Is to further increase the tax burden now upon the people tor for the benefit of the school system and until such time as relief in some form from the tax burden Is offered to the farm ing element of this state we do not feel justified in supporting any pro fiarn which insures additions to the aiden which is now unbearable third the proposed amendments ej s provide that additional r oney shall be derived from the lin position of taxes on tangible prop eity city which Is a tax on real property the basis of the farmers livelihood the utah state farm bureau feels that the school systems of the state should not at this time attempt to further expand but should show a v ill bigness to assist in bearing the burden of reduction in facilities on the sane basis as Ps all other elements of the st state ite have had to bear tor for the several years |
