| Show COUNTY AGENTS COLUMN field day at the desert range experiment station on october 16 aud and 17 approximately forest officials division ot of grazing and livestock men from the inter mountain country met for the purpose of reviewing the work accomplished complis hed bed at the desert experiment station those who aL attended tended the field day were impressed with the splendid work that has been accomplished shed after three years of operation the desert range experiment station has gone a long way to demonstrate on strate what can be done to improve the winter ranges the work that has been done at this station will in all likelihood help to determine the policy of winter grazing on the desert it was very interesting to note the comparative vigor of the perennial range plants the of 0 the range by managed grazing was very noticeable the relation of watering places to orage forage production the replacement of 0 palatable native forages by less valuable weedy species and the effects ot of the drought on range vegetation was very apparent after the forest service has gone to the expense of furnishing a place to stay and providing meals it was rather lamentable that so few livestock men were present |
