Show STOTT FAMILY REUNION several days ot of the past week have been crowded with events ot of outstanding interest to tile the stotts of meadow for the past three months their local committee consisting of 0 V F earl edwin and willis stott leave have been working fora for a large stott f family roundup round up and reunion A although it ft Is a very busy season many of 0 the members from tar far flung localities responded to the invitations to gather at the old home town of Ale meadow adow the members began pouring in on the third of july with a view ot of celebrating eb rating our national birthday with the home folk in the good old way at two on friday afternoon J july ly esth our reunion was as formally opened with a gathering at the ward chapel and a most interesting gathering it was there were assembled two hundred ten people all stotts and their immediate relatives along the maternal lines the group had gathered from numerous points extending from cana canada a on the north to within a ten minute walk ot of old mexico on the south space forbids a complete cataloging of 0 the group but among those coming from parts outside the state were mrs william 11 II stott jr of alberta canada her two sons and their families edgar from southern arizona and clinton from washington state luke and wife from northern california hyrum and wife with his son roscoe and wife front from idaho and mr and mrs pete money aloney ot of los angeles the latter a daughter of edwin edwill stott jr of Aie meadow adow the program at the chapel although somewhat lengthy due to ta the desire to hear front from so 0 o many of 0 the assembled relatives was varied in its nature and a number of the parts rendered displayed a pleasing degree of talent in music and in reading of especial interest to those present was a portrayal by edwin stott jr of 0 the family tree of 0 willlam william stott the lather father of us all that la Is the stotts in the evening following the program gram a tree free dance was given in the ward amusement hall to which the public was invited the rhythmic harmony of the eight piece meadow orchestra I 1 have forgotten their official designation was at its ita best and many lauy of 0 our friends from kanosh and flowell joined us in one of those delightful social events that we like to have linger in the memory on oil saturday morning mornine late the crowd emerged from their tired beds and piled into cars and trucks to be whisked away to our delightful mountain resort at maple springs gathered here one hundred seventy five strong we moved on in a lively succession of events consisting ot of feasting the rendering of another program and a series of indoor base ball games the first was a handicap game in which the fellows using only their left hand played the girls the next was a game between the dads and their unmarried sons to avoid any ally embarrassment the outcome of the games la Is being kept a state secret to till fill out the day on saturday the crowd spent the evening at tile the warm springs and talk about your crowded places it looked as though all the cars in the country had taken to the desert sunday and monday were spent chiefly in churchgoing church going and visiting on tuesday morning at live five twenty six members of the family headed for mantl in the millard stake bus to spend the day working in the temple among other pleasing events of the day was the temple tempie marriage or sealing of roscoe stott and his wife ot of idaho me young couple having formerly tor merly been united by a civil marriage in their home state the group returned home in the evening by way ot of clear creek canyon and cove fort to atford some ot of the members some new sights ot of interest mr air kesler was wag very cordial with the group inviting them in particular to go through the port fort and to examine the famous twenty mule team borax wagon which he brought la in some time ago from the death valley district so much tor for the chief events of our long to be remembered reunion with the indulgence of the reader tor for another moment we would like to let you know that our grandfather william stott was one ot of the men called to fillmore in its beginnings by brigham young to help to build the state capitol grandpa stott was found useful in those days be cause of his mechanical ability and also because ho he brought with him hill one ot of tile first two lathes to come into the territory his old Eng liall friend henry dinwoody ot of salt lake city having brought tile the other that lathe la Is on display at the state museum in fillmore grandpa stott has a total of SIG 61 G descendants distributed is aa follows 11 children 66 grandchildren 36 great grandchildren great great grandchildren and 71 great great great grandchildren P F earl stott |
