Show irrigation season starts under the canal the first delivery ot of water under the central utah water company system began early this week farmers under the canal report that they are re receiving a good delivery and that it li a acing erod ata time when it will do the most good tor for those who desire a hay crop wo we understand that the delivery this season is being made on a basis ot of 55 acre toot per share which indicates that the estimated delivery will not be any more than last year A number ot of farmers under this project have expressed their desire to have a portion of their water delivered at a late date this fall in order to enable them to use it in starting new alfalfa it if those in charge ol of the delivery of the water could arrange to deliver a good turn ot of water at that time it Is certain that many farmers would avail themselves of the use of a large part of their water to start new alfalfa heretofore it has been impossible tor for a number of years to get any water from the canal except in the early summer and it has been found almost impossible to start alfalfa under these conditions every acre of alfalfa that is started in this valley means an increase in the value of the land to the extent of nearly a hundred dollars and should the water co assist in getting a tall fall delivery of water it would greatly benefit every one under the project |
