Show MRS MARY CLARK DAY CALLED BY DEATH mary alary dark clark day born march 4 18 4 G at Gloucester shire england and died tuesday april 2 1929 at her home in fillmore death came after an illness of 0 two weeks and came to her just one year and one day after the death ot of her husband john day mrs airs day joined the L D S church in 1867 and left liverpool aug 25 1869 for america arriving in utah in september ot of the same year she sha was accompanied on the trip by her husband hus banA her son rufus who was just two weeks old when the journey began and by mr air george day and mr air james day the party crossed the hie ocean in one of 0 the first steamships and they came across the plains as far as ogden on the railroad it having been completed that spring from ogden they camo came directly to fillmore by ox team their first home here was in one room of the old state capitol later they lived in a small house located near john Carll present home and from there they moved to the home which they occupied until death claimed them both mrs airs day was a devout later day saint she left all her own family to come to utah and none ot of them ever joined her here two brothers in england still survive her altho not one of the first pioneers she knew many of the hardships that came to the people here up until the close of 0 the nineteenth century eight children were born to the union one ot of them dying in infancy the other seven still survive their parents they are rufus day arthur day mrs airs lizzle lizzie maycock tire mra emma bartholomew edward day mrs airs annie robinson and mr will day there are also 39 grand children and 27 great grand children funeral services were held thursday afternoon at 2 in the fillmore ward chapel councilor P lorenzo crimson brunson conducting the ser vices music alisle was furnished by a mixed quartet and a vocal solo by T leo jacbos the speakers were peter L brunson B D glen kenney and bishop orrin F peterson of redmond W B higgins offered offered th the opening prayer and italic C hanson pronounced the benediction the grave was dedicated by peter L brunson relatives and friends who came from out of town to attend the services included bishop and mrs orrin F peterson and children ot of redmond air luke luhe day of los angeles mr air dark clark maycock of mcgill miss rubye bartholomew ot of provo mr air and mrs airs richard johnson and family mrs airs jane jana paul mis eldra paul and mrs airs frances jensen of holden 1 |
