Show ROAD COURTESY IS OFTEN NEGLECTED many little th things ings make motor traveling most difficult on highways by ERWIN GREER president greer col 01 jose of automotive engineering chicago when aou ou are driving along a road find and someone approaching from behind sounds bounds ills horn to pass let him do so times when driving along the highway you may have noticed drivers give the signal to the car ahead and try to pass only to have tile the car on the right liand hand side speed up jangles drivers nerves it certainly jangles a drivers nerves when he finds the car ahead speeding up when aben he attempts to go by there Is no excuse for this sort of thing if you want to pass why should the man on the right stop step on the throttle find and attempt to block you there Is plenty of courtesy to be observed on the road besides mere theory if we were more thoughtful of the other fellow motoring would be a lot more pleasant not watching road the other day a motorist reported that he was coming from gary and was crossing the railroad tracks in south chicago there is a right angle turn there and it Is dangerous unless low speed Is maintained coining around the turn a boy was observed driving a delivery wagon ile he was taking aking about all the room to be had bad on the highway and when this motorist looked at him he found the chap was busily engaged in reading a letter and was not watching the road at all it Is just such things as this instance that makes motor traveling hard tind and troublesome it motorists would drive sanely sandy there would ge be fewer disasters on the highways |
