Show j The First and Seventh Day. ; 1 The fourth commandment of the j j Jewish law distinctly commands that i the seventh day of the week shall be j a day of rest, on which no work of any j kind shall be done. The early Chris- ; tians observed the seventh day for a , long time, because it was the law of ' the land. The fact that Jesus arose from the dead on the first day of the week led them to meet again on that day, and it gradually became a custom for them to meet on the first day of the week for Christian fellowship. . |
