Show WHY.XOT KEEP THE SAME BOARD Election of a new town board will soon be with us, and it is well to be thinking about it seriously. First, let us contemplate the board now in power. That board iB composed, compos-ed, first of E. H. Bird, who is the Mayor. Mr Bird is the Morman bishop bish-op for the Milford ward, a plumber, by trade, and a man who has many close friends, because of his sterling qualities. Next, Wm. Cochrano. Mr. Cochrane is in the employ of the Jefferson Mercantile company, and has been for many years. While Bill is no beauty and is no house-afire, he is square, honest and upright, and can always be depended upon to do the right thing as he sees it. Then comes Jo. Smith, assistant cashier at the Milford State Bank. Jo. could not hold that job unless he were square andl fair. With one mem ber removed from town, Jack Sherwood Sher-wood completes the board. Ho is the county sheriff and was elected by a big vote here in Milford, thus showing show-ing his popularity in his own home town Now what is the matter with that board as far as it goes? It only needs another member'equally as good that's all. They have had some difficult diffi-cult problems to handle, mostly left overs from the previous administration, administra-tion, and they have handled them with credit to themselves and to the town. As to the handling of the liquor question. The bootleggers and moonshiners are enough to make any selfrespecting board sit up nights aud do some high-class thinking; and if they have erred it is surely on the side of leniency. In the appointment of Jack Mc-Keon Mc-Keon as town marshal, they were especially fortunate and right here we wish to commend Jack on his conduct. He has been neither over- officious, nor overbearing; he has not allawed durnkenness on the streets; and he has been impartial in the performance of his duties. In the appointment of Mrs. E. V. Kesler, as librarian, and Mrs. Minnie Min-nie McKeon as town clerk, Roy Rogers Rog-ers as watermaster. Sam Cline as attorney, at-torney, and E. Smith as police judge, the board was also fortunate, as these officers are doing their respective respec-tive duties In a very acceptable manner man-ner Election will soon be here and ir the present board can be prevailed upon to serve another term, why not give it to them? We know this board, we know what they will do, we know what they have done. We may get some crank on the board who will undo the work done by these conservative con-servative men. |
