Show Bingham Men Interested Io Texas Oil Well tr. F. E. Turner, Superintendent of the Ohio Copper Co., returned return-ed from Texas the past week where he spent several days in-' in-' . specting the holdings of the Baxter Basin Oil Syndicate, an organization which is being .backed by Bingham and Salt Lake business men, who were interested enough in their venture ven-ture as to have Mr. Turner make a trip back there to investigate in-vestigate the proposition for them. So enthused was Mr. F. E. Turner with what he saw, on his return he immediately wrote out a check for $750.00 to purchase pur-chase some holdings in the Syn-' Syn-' dicate. He says the outlook for the Baxter Basin well is most promising. Two of the big geologists of that section of the Country, State Geologist D. W. Morrow and Earl A. Wyatt have reported report-ed favorably on the structure on which is situated the acreage of the Baxter Basin field. The log of the well checks accurately ac-curately with the forecasts so ,-far made by these geologists, and is said to be practically identical with those of the big : producers in the remarkable Powell field, which is twenty two miles west of the Baxter Basin well and is producing on an average of 400,000 barrels of , oil daily, from an area nine miles long. The Baxter Basin well is now down to depth of 3216 feet ac- v cording to Field Superintendent ; J. B. Davidson, a driller of ma-' ma-' ny years experience. It is estimated the company expects to reach the objective stratum within the next few weeks when they hope to attain 4 the 3540 foot mark. The com-ipany com-ipany is doing its drilling with a ' complete standard rotary rig, ; ; power for drilling is derived : from two forty-five horse power boilers, which Mr. Tunrer states is in first class condition and ,. . ( everything necessary for the . 'completion of the well is at v hand. : C. E. Bass, of Salt Lake City, who is interested in the proposition, propo-sition, left for the property on - Thursday and intends to remain there until the well is complet- ed. . . . .. , Transportation facilities are said to be ideal, the company's , .i V holdings being situate about ten V miles from Athens and three r miles from the station of Larue, and are crossed by railroads. - W. E. Evans, of Salt Lake, is managing trustee; L. L. Bagley " and Field Superintendent J. B. Davidson are also trustees. Francis Cope is Secretary- . ' Treasurer. ' ' In addition to . holding 1100 V acres in the heart of tlm prora- i ising oil section, , the company also owns 5,000 acres on the Baxter Basin, Wyoming structure. struc-ture. ..' |
