Show MILFORD IS TO HAVE A FINE WATER-SYSTEM NEW WELL, NEW PUMP HOUSE, PUMPS, AND FORCE GALORE The town of Milford will let the contract next week for improvements improve-ments to its water system. The improvements contemplated, among other things are: The drilling of an artesian well. The construction of a new pump house. The installation of new pumping machinery. iha extension of the distribution system. Th.-. art-. sian well is to be 10 inches inch-es in diameter and from 200 to 400 feet deep. It will be located on the lot recently purchased by the town at the rear n the old laundry building, build-ing, just west of the ice house. The pump house is to be a concrete structure 17x21 feet surmounted by a tower or derrick 24 feet above the roof. The machinery shall consist of two duplex or triplex pumps of a minimum mini-mum capacity of 200 gallons per minute against a 200 foot head. . The drive shall be either silent chain or belt and idler at the option of the board. 1 The booster pump shall be a single sin-gle stage centrifugal pump directly connected to a five horse power motor. mo-tor. This pump must be of standard design and capable of delivering 100' gallons per minute, against a 75 foot head. The motors for the other pumps .shall be 15 horse power. All the mo tors shall be equipped with automatic automat-ic starters, which will stop the pump when the water pressure on the mains reaches 43 pounds and will start them when the pressure drops to 34 pounds per inch. The distribution system shall consist con-sist of the replacement of two-inch lines by 4-inch on 4000 feet 0'i streets, and the laying of 3 500 feet of 2-inch mains, 680 feet of 6-inch, 600 feet of 8-inch. x The contractor must make all connections con-nections with the present water users. us-ers. The booster motor and pump are to be placed on the mesa, near the present big tank and will be used to maintain pressure on the water mains up there. The booster will be equipped with the same style of a starter as used on the big pump and will be regulated to stop and start at a pressure of 3 5 and' 25 pounds. This will give the residents on the mesa ample pressure at all times. When these improvements are completed, com-pleted, Milford will have an ample supply of water for a town of ten thousand people. |
