Show !M1LF0RD1TES go ; THROUGH CAVE Perhaps our readers would be Interested In-terested in hearing about our trip to Lehman's cave, as stated in our last issue. Our party, composed of H. B. Waters, superintendent of the Tellu-ride Tellu-ride Power company. Mr. Evans, Mr. and Airs. Karl S. Carlton and Miss Hortense Hardy left Milford at 1:30. Wednesday afternoon. - The roads were in very good shape and the cloudy weather made the ride very pleasant. We left Milford at 1:30 and ar-' ar-' veil at Garrison at 5:30. Here spent the night at the Deardon hotel, leaving about ft o'clock the next morning for Baker, Nevada, which is just five miles. There we stopped for a short visit with Forest Ranger Quate and Mrs. Quate, who gave us the right directions to find the cave. The cave is located in the foothills of Ml. Wheeler, about. 6 miles west of Faker, on the Forest Reserve, and s in the charge of Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Rhodes, and Mr. Nathan Kinder. Mn and Mrs. Rhodes have also purchased pur-chased a sma'-l ranch near the cave. and are spending all their time and money to make everything pleasant and entertaining for their guests. Soon after pur arrival, we began our journey through the cave under the guidance of Mr Rhodes and bis a'de assistant. Micky Condon. Entering En-tering the little house at the mouth of the cave, we descended three steen flight of stairs. Here we were each eiven a carbide light to use in find-'rrr find-'rrr our way through the cave. The charge for guide serv;ce. :n-cliHling :n-cliHling candle or lamp, is $1.00 for each person. The trip under ground takes about two and one-half hours and is about three miles long. Tt Is s'lrely a beautiful and wond'erful trip Mr. and Mrs. Rhodes, the caretakers, care-takers, are well known here. They a' one time being the propriel ors of tie Ohio cafe. They are prepared to furnish meals to all who come, and they have a beautiful, handy cmp fixed up with table, stove camp dishe, for the benefit of campers. Le-h'nan Le-h'nan creek, a quarter of a mile from the cave. Is one of the mos p'd"d trout streams !n the West. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Dobson made the trip over to and through the Lehman Le-hman cave last week. They report a wonderful trip and were very much s-'rnrised at the grandeur of the sights. |
