Show w THE GROWTH OF THE POULTRY INDUSTRY Five or six years ago Utah was im-j porting a considerable amount of poultry and eggs estimated at about $400,000 to $500,000. Since that time the indutstry has gone through a phenominal development and a considerable amount of both poultry and eggs are being exported. During the present year at the least nine op ten cars of dressed turkeys fifteen or sixteen cars of broilers and 90 to 100 cars of fresh eggs with a combined com-bined value of about $400,000 to $430,000 will be isent to markets out side the state. This growth of the industry is due largely to a bmer knowledge of the problems of poultry raising by the farmers of the state .which means an increase in production and in many respects lower cost. The important im-portant factors here are better stock with a knowledge of how to cull out I, he slacker, better housing and environment en-vironment and improved methods of feeding. Poultry raising is not so hazardous and is more sure than most other farm crops. Due to the cooperative marketing association these products are being sent to the larger markets of America Amer-ica at: a great saving to the producer. |
